Miya Heckman, 16, has been a Faith Christian cheerleader for her sophomore and junior years of high school. Miya did a Q and A to give some insight into her life inside and outside of cheerleading:

Q: What is it like being a cheerleader?

A: Being a cheerleader is a lot harder and requires more work than people think.

Q: Are cheer tournaments or football games more stressful, and why?

A: I think that tournaments are much more stressful because the practices get tough, and everyone strives to do their best.

Q: What is your favorite cheerleading stunt, and why?

A: My favorite cheer stunt is called a “lib.” I think that it’s my favorite because it looks difficult but also looks very cool and is not that hard to learn how to do.

Q: How do you perform that stunt?

A: There are two girls on the bottom and one girl behind the flyer. The flyer is thrown into the air on one foot and held in the air.

Q: What is the title of your favorite cheer?

A: My favorite cheer is called “GO BIG RED!”

Q: What are some of your favorite things to do in your free time?

A: I really enjoy playing “Just Dance,” hanging out with my friends, especially Kylee and Lauren, and I love going to Fuzzy’s. I also love to play softball in my free time.

Q: What’s your favorite vacation spot that you’ve ever gone to and why?

A: My favorite vacation spot would have to be Disney Land. Whenever my family and I go there, I feel like a kid again, and all my problems just fade away. It’s like being in a completely different world.

Q: What do you want to do after graduating college?

A: After college, I think I want to become either a real-estate agent or a hairstylist.

Q: What is your favorite genre of movie, and what is your favorite movie from that genre?

A: I would have to say my favorite genre is kids’ movies, especially Disney.  My favorites are Hercules and Beauty and the Beast.

Q: What has been your favorite play that you’ve done?

A: My absolute favorite play that I have been in was Les Miserables. It was amazing to be around all those seniors before they left.
