The Star Wars movies are a cultural sensation and have been, since the debut of the original Star Wars in 1977. The movies always have a big turnout, and The Last Jedi is sure to continue this pattern. The name is a big subject of curiosity. Who exactly is The Last Jedi? Could it be Rey? Is it Luke? Will Rey teach someone else? One of the biggest questions after The Force Awarkens has centered around Rey’s relatives. Some say she must be a Skywalker because of her obvious connection to Luke’s lightsaber. However, Rey and Obi Wan Kenobi are the only main characters in Star Wars to have British accents. The character Finn was played by a man with a British accent, but he was told to stop using it. Rey and Obi Wan Kenobi are also the only two characters in the story to never struggle with the ability to control people’s minds. She masters her ability while being kept captive, and he gets the Jedi out of many situations by changing the minds of the Storm Troopers. In a previous movie, Obi Wan battles a robot named General Grievous using a stick. The actions shown in the fight are the same motions which Rey uses to knock over Finn when he was wearing Po’s jacket. Could Rey possibly be a daughter of Kylo Wren? It would follow the trend of the Star Wars movies. However, Rey could be unrelated to other characters. The common theme of the movies is that heroes come from unexpected places. Anakin Skywalker was originally a slave and is the ultimate hero of the galaxy. Maybe that is also Rey’s story. Whatever the answer to this question, it is sure to be fascinating.  Hopefully, the new movie lives up to the legacy of its predecessors.
