On Thursday, April 6, the United States launched 59 tomahawk missiles at the Syrian airbase that had dropped the chemical bombs that killed many innocent civilians two days before. The blame from the chemical bombings was directed at President Assad of Syria. This crossed the line in President Trump’s words. That is when President Trump retaliated and sent the missiles. This undoubtedly sent a significant message to nations around the world. Russia, who has been siding with and funding Assad’s forces, was warned by President Trump that if they didn’t deal with the Syrian chemical bombing, he would. That’s exactly what he did. President Trump kept to his word that he would be unpredictable, because what happened Thursday night was definitely a surprise to many people. However, some people think his decision to launch 59 missiles was either too soon or wasn’t necessary. Many cling to the idea that the United States should be an isolationist country, however, others argue that it is necessary that the “powerhouse” nation of the world should get involved in incredibly immoral events and/or bombings. The tomahawk, used against Syria this time, was first used in Operation Desert Storm. The missiles have caused a lot of questioning and disagreement.
