The Faith Christian softball team began with a bang this year. Coach Joe Garmatz said, “I was thrilled with how the team played! It was a great start to the year.  It is nice to see the results of  all the players’ hard work.” The first game was against the Green Mountain Rams, a 4a team. The Lady Eagles are excited to have gained three new players this year: two freshman, London and Leslie, and a junior, Hampton Hays. The team has eight junior players, and it is led by senior captain Payton Walter. McKenzie Connor and Abriannah Mcgaw are also captains. The Green Mountain game started of slowly, with the first three Faith batters going down in succession, and a Rams’ scoring in the first inning. Promptly, the Eagles scored six runs to counter them. The offense looked very strong. Defense was consistent, and McKenzie’s pitching held firm throughout. The batters continued to pound the ball. There were a few small, fixable mistakes, but it went well for Faith Christian. Two runners managed to score for Green Mountain, but the damage had already been done. The final score was thirteen to three! The glory goes to God for a fantastic first game! Ashley Evans said, “It was a great team effort, and everyone played a part in the win. Also, it was cool to have our first-time run ruling a 4a team.” Keep playing hard, and Go Eagles!!!
