Every year, the incoming math classes seemed shocked by the reality of honors math with Mrs. Caldwell. Students struggle to make the adjustment and to keep their grades up. Here is advice from previous students:

  • Take the time to learn the lesson the day it is taught no matter what.
  • Don’t wait until test day to ask questions. (ASK LOTS)
  • ALWAYS be prepared for a quiz!
  • Keep with the pace of the class, even if you have to skip something and come back to it.
  • DO Not in any situation tell the teacher OK, sure, um, or wait (grammar is key).
  • Prepare yourself for tough love and a quick pace; accept it, and it will be easier.
  • ALWAYS double check that your heading is correct (zeros have been received) .
  • Do not EVER use a late pass for recreation; the emergencies will happen.
  • The stress will come; but just breathe, pray, and know you can do it.
  • Work hard on the daily grind because it pays off.

WARNING: If you have an aversion to hard work or a lack of time, Caldwell’s math may not be for you. It is challenging though possible to succeed. Do not be afraid to switch to a lower math if faced with zero time left to do math.
